Come and join us in the bookshop next Thursday to meet Janet Newman, poet and Patricia Donovan, novelist.
Janet Newman is a poet living in Koputaroa in Horowhenua, where she farms beef cattle. Her book, The Unseasoned Campaigner, is a layered collection exploring the complexities of farming life. The book uncovers territory ripe for exploration as she juxtaposes the often troubled aspects of commercial farming – the life and death of animals – with loving family relationships.
The Madison Gap is Patricia Donovan‘s second novel, following The Remarkable Miss Digby earlier this year. Set in Sydney, 2017, in the laid-back suburb of Glebe, Lexi Madison is living her ideal life with her husband. When her older sister Chrissy comes to stay, Lexi’s world starts to unravel as dark family secrets are revealed, and she learns how insidiously truth can be perverted, and that exposing those secrets can drive a person to the brink of murder.
Wine, juice and nibbles will be provided.
